Slack Traffic place themselves within the realms of alternative rock, rap with a slight hint of funk; sharing ranging influences from the jazz-pop of Jamie Cullum to the funk and soul of the late great James Brown and psychedelic rock of Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Since serendipitously meeting whilst at university in Bath just six months ago Bren, Danny, Luke and Matt have really etched the blueprints of their sound - intricate melodies, catchy hooks, hard hitting rap verses and a fiery rhythm section complete their purposeful step into the world. We came to discover Slack Traffic from a couple of demos ‘ON UR SHLDRS’ and ‘Solo Pursuit’ released on their Soundcloud and YouTube channels just three months ago. With all respect to those demos we were not expecting the fire they brought into the studio with new track ‘Compliment the Sun’ a gritty melancholy track with a hard clasping alt rock tones and harmonies that really demonstrate the burgeoning partnership between the two lead vocalists.
For a band that formed little over six months ago Slack Traffic showed no signs of intimidation in their first session, in fact, quite the opposite offering up a passionate and enigmatic Eclectic Session. Since filming the quartet have supported The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show in Salisbury and Lazy Habits in Bath and have gone into the studio to record their debut EP, which as of yet has no name. Whatever title they add to the project we’ll be awaiting it with eager ears.
